PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE:

TIME FLIES… Hard to believe that the AQHYA Qualifying period has ended, and the PCQHYA team that will represent California in Oklahoma City in August is set. You can see the line – up of the team here.
Qualifying for 2011 has already begun, and the list of qualifying shows can also be found here. Our youth represent the future of the horse industry, and we are very proud of them. Congratulations and good luck to all who have qualified!
The AQHA Select Amateur World qualifying period will have ended by the time this makes it to print, and the Select exhibitors will be making their plans for a great trip to Amarillo. We are so very proud of our Select riders, and wish them all the best of rides!
Our AQHA Open and Amateur folks have a little time left, and no doubt, all will get their points and make ready for the November trek! There are ample opportunities for those last points. For a current calendar of shows that are available to the California exhibitor, please check our calendar
Again, good luck to all!

BIG EVENT… In case you’ve missed all the pre-qualifying advertising, be sure to check out the information on the EMO NOVICE CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW. This innovative format will be held in conjunction with the WINE AND ROSES show in Watsonville in October. The show will follow the structure of a World Championship event, with custom Silverado Silversmith buckles through third in each class, neck ribbons to Champion and Reserve Champion in each class, and ribbons to the top 15 in each class. As with any World Championship type show, you must qualify to participate. The qualifying points are based on the PCQHA structure, rather than AQHA point structure, so are very obtainable. Please review the criteria here.

EXCITING CHANGES! PCQHA is proud to announce that, as the official AQHA Affiliate in California, we have been given the opportunity to offer 6 sets of points over 4 days at our wonderful FALL CLASSIC SHOW, held every year in beautiful Santa Barbara. You read correctly! Fewer nights in hotels, fewer meals out, fewer days to be gone from work/school, with the same number of points! Easier on your pocket and easier on old Dobbin.
All the activities that you have grown to love will still be in place, including the hilarious TRAINER’S SHOWMANSHIP, DON PABST VERSATILITY CLASS, wonderful tri-tip barbeque, wine and cheese party and so on! The dates are September 16 – 19, 2010, so make your plans now to attend! The host hotel is the Peppertree on State Street. Their web address is: http://www.bestwesternpeppertreeinn.com.
You don’t want to miss this one!

MORE GREAT NEWS… The PCQHA Board of Directors, at its May meeting, has made the decision to give Year – End Awards through 3rd place. So, spur up and go for more prizes! The awards will be given at our regular year-end banquet. Watch this newsletter for more information regarding a new format for the banquet, too!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED… Looking to get involved in your state’s horse activities? PCQHA would like to invite you to become a non-board member committee volunteer. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please contact Jane in the PCQHA office or any of the board members for more information on the various committees. You can find a list of board members and the various committees here.

THANKS…thanks to each of you for participating in our terrific industry. What’s better for us than a good horse? Terry Skevington, PCQHA Pres-Elect
